About Aimee

Aimee Kearney is an Irish soprano currently based in Amsterdam, where she studies with The Dutch National Opera Academy under the tutelage of Dutch soprano Hanneke de Wit. Prior to this, Aimee completed her bachelor’s degree at The Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dublin where she studied with renowned soprano Virginia Kerr.

Aimee has starred in a range of roles in Ireland and abroad, including ‘Dominic the prince’ in Maconchy’s The Sofa, (Royal Irish Academy of Music), ‘Suor Genovieffa’ in Puccini’s Suor Angelica (Berlin Opera Academy) and ‘Sandmännchen’ in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel (Lyric Opera Ireland).

In her 2024/2025 season, Aimee performed leading and supporting roles with the Dutch National Opera Academy, including ‘Amaranta’ in Haydn’s La Fedeltá Premiata, ‘Susanna’ in staged scenes from Mozart’s ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’, ‘Clarina’ in Rossini’s La Cambiale di Matrimonio and ‘Anna 1’ in Weill’s Die Sieben Todsünden.

Aimee’s 2025/2026 season is equally as busy and exciting, with 3 leading roles with the DNOA: ‘Serpina’ in Pergolesi’s La Serva Padrona, ‘Molly Bloom’ in the Dutch premiere of Benjamin Parry Wenzelberg’s opera NIGHTTOWN, and ‘Vixen’ in Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen.

Aimee’s Oratorio performances across Ireland include Vivaldi’s Gloria and Dixit Domine, Bach cantata BWV 61 and D’Astorga’s Stabat Mater. She has quickly become a sought after Oratorio performer in The Netherlands, and will sing Mozart’s Requiem, Mendelssohn’s Gloria, Mozart’s Solemn Vespers and Handel’s Messiah this coming season.

Aimee has a particular love for English art song and Lieder. She has performed song recital’s in The Killaloe Chamber Music Festival, Hugh Lane Gallery lunchtime series, University of Limerick rising stars, Charles Wood Festival of Music and Blackwater Valley Opera Festival. Most notably, she has performed as a soloist in Wigmore Hall, one of the most prestigious venues for chamber music in the world.

Aimee will perform in Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw this season, as well as a recital in London entitled ‘I dreamt I dwelt- celebrating William Butler Yeats’ with the Irish Heritage.

Aimee is a frequent competition finalist and winner. Most recently, she received the Kathryn Harries audience prize at The Glenarm Festival of voice.

She is the winner of The Irene Sanford Award for singers (2021), as well as being a semi finalist and finalist in competitions across the UK, including The Kathleen Ferrier Award, The Dean and Chadlington singing competition (whereby she won the audience prize, 2023), The Charles Wood Singing competition and The Ashburnham singing competition.

She is a recipient of the Veronica Dunne Bursary for Young Irish Singers, as well as The Count John McCormack Society Bursary. She has also been awarded the agility award from the arts council of Ireland.

Aimee is the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival Bursary Award winner for 2025, one of the largest bursary’s given to singers in Ireland. She is now an ambassador for BVOF, and frequently performs in recitals and private concerts for the festival.
